At Liz Powell Design we offer design consultations, we can set up an in person consultation or via ZOOM. We have the expertise to guide you through all of the decisions that come when designing your home. There are so many decisions to be made, flooring is just one of them.

Let’s break it down & simplify the process. There are several things to consider such as cost, maintenance & durability.

Identify Space

First let’s identify the spaces in your home that will need flooring: Family room, dining room, kitchen, mudroom, entryway, hallway, basement, theater room, bedrooms etc.

What’s your Budget

Next, how much can you afford on flooring. This will open up or narrow down your options. Take the time to figure out your square footage. Don’t just look at the price of material, get the cost including the install fee. This will give a more realistic number to work with and will hep you stay within budget.

Stay grounded, stick with your budget and keep your feet on the floor...pun intended.

Function of Space

How will the space be used? Be realistic, look at how you and your family currently use the space. Will there be kids running in from the backyard swimming pool soaking wet? Will dogs come running in & out after a rainstorm with muddy paws? Are you a wild dishwasher or have someone in your home that is? How large is the splash zone? How much maintenance would you like to do on your floor each year? .

Each flooring type will have it’s pros and cons. Which option is best for you will be based on price, maintenance, durability, look and feel?

We’ve created a quick reference guide to help you make an informed decision on what type of Wood-look material to use in your upcoming flooring project.

Choose your Floor

We hope this helps you on your flooring journey. The best decisions are made by informed individuals. You’re doing the right thing by researching and gathering information about types of flooring. Identify where the new flooring is going, look at your overall budget, and be realistic about how the space will be used. After all, It’s the ground you walk on, the surface beneath your feet, where little feet pitter patter.
