Three Mistakes that Could Cheapen the Look of Your New Build

Our ultimate goal with every home we design is to create an elegant and timeless home. We put extra time and effort into making sure your home looks cohesive.

Have you ever been in a home where every room looks like it was designed by a different person? We call those homes Frankensteins, and we go to great lengths to make sure none of our clients ever get a Frankenstein house! Today we’re going to share three things that could cheapen the look of your newly built home and how we can avoid them.

trendy designs

We try to avoid including trendy designs inside or outside our homes. It’s important to us that we create homes where our clients will be comfortable and happy for decades to come. Nobody will ever look at your house and be able to identify the year it was built. Certain trends, like shiplap, metal roofs, or grey wood floors, are very indicative of an era of home decor.

MISALLOCATING BUDGET

Other builders may only quote you for a price to build your house, not taking into account how you’ll furnish your house. We are a full-service team, so we use your budget for building and furnishing your home. That way, even the furnishings in your house will look like they were made for your house.

PICKING RANDOM VENDORS

We think there’s no quicker way to cheapen the look of your home than by picking your builders, cabinetry, and lighting experts at random. When you build a home with us, you get access to all of our preferred vendors. They have all worked together on multiple projects with us; they know how to communicate with each other and clients, and we trust them wholeheartedly.

Read on for five ways we ensure our client’s homes will be timeless, classic buildings.

Focus on architecture. Elements like crown molding, wainscotting, and well-proportioned windows add a timeless element to a newly built home.

  1. Using a neutral color palette. By giving your home a neutral base, you’ll be able to adapt your furnishings and decor over time if your style ever changes.

  2. Opt for quality materials. Our homes are built with the best materials we can source. Natural materials like hardwood, marble, and natural stone will age better than manufactured materials.

  3. Prioritize functionality. A home can be beautiful, but most importantly, it should work for our clients. We design homes that will grow with our clients as their families and needs change.

  4. Personalize with accessories. We love sourcing furniture and decor that reflects our clients’ styles. Using our vast design resources, we will be able to find the perfect finish for you.

By combining classic design principles, durable materials, and beautiful architecture, we will be able to build you a timeless and elegant home.
